Karak Wastewater Treatment Plant Project

Karak Wastewater Treatment Plant Project is located in Karak - Jordan. The project will be executed by JV OTV/AquaTreat.The Contract is financed by the Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KFW).  Four pre-qualified companies submitted their offers in October 2014 and JV OTV/AquaTreat submitted the winning bid and award was issued in May 2015. The project value is 10 M Euro. The Contract was signed on August 20th, 2015 and the EPC / O&M project started on October 2015 for Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority of Jordan client.

The intent of the Project is to build a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 5,500 m3/day at the site of the existing old plant to service the Karak Area. The new plant will be implemented in parallel with the existing old plant operation. Upon completion the flows will be diverted to the new plant and the existing old plant will be taken out of operation. 

The treated effluent will be used for irrigation purposes. The Karak WWTP employs the Activated Sludge Process in conjunction with preliminary, secondary and tertiary treatment.

The duration of the Contract is 24 Months. The Contract includes the Management, Operation and Maintenance of the plant for a period of two years that can be extended to an additional two years.
